LIMITED EDITION 29: MAIBOCK

The Maibock (also known as Helles Bock) originated in the Hanseatic sea ports of Northern Germany during the 13th century. It is named Maibock, as it was brewed in Winter, for drinking during the Spring months.

Deep gold in colour, Maibock is a perfect beer for the turning of the season. It anticipates the golden beers of Summer, but as it’s traditionally brewed at strengths of 7.4% ABV and above, it still has a touch of the warming aspects of Winter beers. Limited Edition No. 29 comes in at 7.5% ABV.

The Maibock’s flavour is malt-forward. The mixture of Pilsner, Vienna, and Munich malts combines to provide toasted notes and bready malt flavours, complemented by the warmth of the high ABV. Traditional German hops from the Hallertau region are used only in the kettle. They provide the faintest touch of spicy and floral notes, while delivering just the right amount of balance in the beer.
